[Cr(ddpd) 2 ] 3+ : A Molecular, Water‐Soluble, Highly NIR‐Emissive Ruby Analogue

2015

Bright, long-lived emission from first-row transition-metal complexes is very challenging to achieve. Herein, we present a new strategy relying on the rational tuning of energy levels. With the aid of the large N-Cr-N bite angle of the tridentate ligand ddpd (N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-dipyridine-2-ylpyridine-2,6-diamine) and its strong σ-donating capabilities, a very large ligand-field splitting could be introduced in the chromium(III) complex [Cr(ddpd)2](3+), that shifts the deactivating and photoreactive (4)T2 state well above the emitting (2)E state. Prevention of back-intersystem crossing from the (2)E to the (4)T2 state enables exceptionally high near-infrared phosphorescence quantum yields a…

ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis and Characterization of Diorganotin(IV) Derivatives of 2- Mercaptopyridine and Crystal Structure of Diphenyl Pyridine-…

2010

Diorganotin(IV) derivatives of 2-mercaptopyridine (HSPy), R2Sn(SPy)2, R2SnCl(SPy) (R = Me, iPr, nBu, tBu, Cy, Ph) and Cy2SnBr(SPy), were obtained from R2SnX2 (X = Cl, Br) and NaSPy. Ph2SnCl(SPy) crystals, as determined by singlecrystal X–ray diffraction, are monoclinic in the space group P21/n. Tin forms with the bidentate SPy ligand a four–membered chelate ring with a short NSnS bite angle of 64.8(1)° leading to a heavily distorted trigonal–bipyramidal environment about tin. Apical Cl–Sn–N angle = 156.1(1)° equatorial C–Sn–C angle = 121.9(2)°. From 119Sn Mossbauer and IR data, analogous structures are inferred for the other solid compounds R2SnX(SPy), and distorted octahedral molecular str…

2,2′-Bipyrimidine- and 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine-containing manganese(II) compounds: Structural and magnetic properties

2003

The preparation, crystal structures and magnetic properties of four different manganese(II) compounds of formula [Mn(bipym)Cl2]n·2nH2O (1), [Mn2(dpp)2(H2O)2Cl4]·2H2O (2), [Mn(dpp)(H2O)2]n(ClO4)2n·1.5nH2O (3) and [Mn(dpp)(dca)2]n (4) [bipym = 2,2′-bipyrimidine, dpp = 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine and dca = dicyanamide anion] are reported. Compounds 1 and 3 are uniform chains of six-coordinated manganese(II) ions bridged by bis(bidentate) bipym (1) and dpp (3) ligands with two chloride groups (1) and two water molecules (3) in cis position. The electroneutrality in 3 is achieved by uncoordinated perchlorate anions. The manganese atom in 1 and 3 exhibits a distorted octahedral environment mainly …

Copper(I) Complexes of Bis(2-(diphenylphosphino)phenyl) Ether:  Synthesis, Reactivity, and Theoretical Calculations

2007

The tricoordinated cationic Cu-I complex [Cu(kappa(2)-P,P'-DPEphos)(kappa(1)-P-DPEphos)][BF4] (1) (DPEphos = bis(2-(diphenylphosphino)phenyl) ether) containing a dangling phosphorus center was synthesized from the reaction of [Cu(CH3CN)(4)][BF4] with DPEphos in a 1:2 molar ratio in dichloromethane. When complex 1 is treated with MnO2, elemental sulfur, or selenium, the uncoordinated phosphorus atom undergoes oxidation to form a PE bond resulting in the formation of complexes of the type [Cu(kappa(2)-P,P'-DPEphos)(kappa(2)-P,E-DPEphos-E)][BF4] (2, E = O; 3, E = S; 4, E = Se) containing a Cu-E bond. The zigzag polymeric Cu-I complex [Cu(kappa(2)-P,P'-DPEphos)(mu-4,4'-bpy)](n)[BF4](n) (5) was …

Excited State Tuning of Bis(tridentate) Ruthenium(II) Polypyridine Chromophores by Push-Pull Effects and Bite Angle Optimization: A Comprehensive Exp…

2013

The synergy of push-pull substitution and enlarged ligand bite angles has been used in functionalized heteroleptic bis(tridentate) polypyridine complexes of ruthenium(II) to shift the (1) MLCT absorption and the (3) MLCT emission to lower energy, enhance the emission quantum yield, and to prolong the (3) MLCT excited-state lifetime. In these complexes, that is, [Ru(ddpd)(EtOOC-tpy)][PF6 ]2 , [Ru(ddpd-NH2 )(EtOOC-tpy)][PF6 ]2 , [Ru(ddpd){(MeOOC)3 -tpy}][PF6 ]2 , and [Ru(ddpd-NH2 ){(EtOOC)3 -tpy}][PF6 ]2 the combination of the electron-accepting 2,2';6',2''-terpyridine (tpy) ligand equipped with one or three COOR substituents with the electron-donating N,N'-dimethyl-N,N'-dipyridin-2-ylpyridin…

Synthesis, NMR spectral and single crystal X-ray structural studies on Ni(II) dithiocarbamates. Fabrication of nickel sulfide nanospheres by the solv…

2014

Abstract Three dithiocarbamatonickel(II) complexes, [Ni(bzbudtc)2] (1), [Ni(bzbudtc)(PPh3)(NCS)] (2) and [Ni(bzbudtc)(PPh3)(CN)] (3) (where, bzbudtc = the N-benzyl-N-butyldithiocarbamato anion and PPh3 = triphenylphosphine), were prepared. All three complexes were analyzed by UV–Vis, IR and NMR (1H, 13C and 31P) spectra. The 13C NMR spectra of complexes 1–3 show the most crucial thioureide signal at around 200 ppm. A significant deshielding observed for the 31P signals in 2 and 3 reveals the effective bonding of phosphorus to the metal center. Single crystal X-ray analysis of crystals of 1–3 show that all the described complexes exhibit a distorted square planar coordination geometry in the…

Wide-Bite-Angle Diphosphine Ligands in Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescent Copper(I) Complexes: Impact on the Performance of Electroluminescence …

2021

We report a series of seven cationic heteroleptic copper(I) complexes of the form [Cu(P^P)(dmphen)]BF4, where dmphen is 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline and P^P is a diphosphine chelate, in which the effect of the bite angle of the diphosphine ligand on the photophysical properties of the complexes was studied. Several of the complexes exhibit moderately high photoluminescence quantum yields in the solid state, with ΦPL of up to 35%, and in solution, with ΦPL of up to 98%. We were able to correlate the powder photoluminescence quantum yields with the % Vbur of the P^P ligand. The most emissive complexes were used to fabricate both organic light-emitting diodes and light-emitting electrochem…

Performances of symmetrical achiral ferrocenylphosphine ligands in palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions: A review of syntheses, catalytic app…

2007

Abstract Ferrocene derivatives bearing donor atoms led to the generation of several classes of metallo-ligands, which collectively show an impressive diversity of applications, especially in metal-catalyzed modern organic reactions. Based on the impetus provided by the use of the diphosphine 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (dppf) the investigations directed towards the synthesis of new ferrocenylphosphines remain of fundamental and industrial interest. The present review aims to describe the performances in palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of symmetrical achiral ferrocenylphosphine ligands, mainly diphosphines. We specifically choose to restrict our review efforts to these …
